~ Wood Delights Intarsia – Where Wood Becomes Art ~

Intarsia is an ancient art form of inlay.
All pieces within each picture are individually cut on a scroll saw.
They are cut from different kinds of wood and different grain directions.
In some cases accent is provided with a wood burner. Absolutely no wood is painted.
The color comes from different kinds of wood. Once all the pieces are cut,they are pieced
together similarly to a jig saw puzzle and glued to a backing board. Each picture is then
given 2 – 3 coats of clear polyurethane to preserve the wood and accent the various colors
and grain.Depending on the detail in the picture this can be a very labor intensive process.
Very large pictures can have over 800 individual pieces in them.
Woods used vary from Western Red Cedar to exotics.

Because wood color changes and grain is different no two pictures are exactly the same.
Each picture is signed and dated and comes with a hanger ready for the wall.
These are beautiful works of art and become a showpiece for any home.
